What happened in Gujarat was a popular upsurge agaibst Muslim fanaticism-Modi understood the Hindu anger better than any politician and successfully prevented the anti-Muslim riots spreading much wider. It was the miracle of Hindu patience that saved the Muslim community from a deeper agony.

Are Muslims capable of a catharsis and make amends? It seems not

Ashok Desai is a pompous oaf. I know, I used to work with him. That article has nothing in it, except the notion that Modi does not entertain intellectual thoughts. And that, for Desai and this blogger, obviously makes him uninteresting.

Even assuming that Desai's slur holds, what use is a politician who spouts great thoughts, but does nothing useful for the people? I don't particularly care about politicians' deep thoughts, I want them to make the government machinery work. If they have deep thoughts, they can write them down on the side, and I may, or may not, look at those. I would prefer if they postpone their deep thoughts for retirement, and get on with doing some work.

That being said, who are those deep thinkers Desai is comparing Modi to? Sheela Dikshit? Rahul Gandhi? Sonia? Pranob Mukhaji?

Anyone who is comfortable with Rajeev gandhi as Bharat ratna should have no problme wiht Modi..

Rajeev gandhi
(1) Slept while Delhi bunrt ikilling 3000 people
(2) Not even single rioer faced bullet from police
(3) Army was sitting next door in cantoment but was never called

Narendra Modi
(1) Ordered police to act which resulted into 300 rioers dying facing polilce's bullet
(2) army was called immediatyely and since it was not parked next door so it tokk 48 hour or so to reach and then situation was in control
(3) In history of INdia which has seen small and big total 66000 riots never were that many rioters killed in pollice firing yet the canard is spread Modi did nothing

If you must fry Modi for not controlling the riot completely be my guest but do not have double standard . Whichever way you look at it there was no lapse in effort as we know riots by nature are hard to control At lest he tried unlilke certain Rajeev Gandhi ( Bharat ratna)

If you consider the administration potentil and results well rajeev gandhi or for that matter anyone in contemporary INdian polictis will have to take several birth before they can match Modi

Modi will grow as a Prime Minister, to the needed stature. He is infinitely more preferable to Nehrus and Gandhis-not to speak of Singhs and Shastris

This article smacks of juvenile animosity towards Modi. For all his shortcomings ( who doesnt have ) he has done well. Your article to slander him is an indication of his growth. Intense hatred is a consequence of jealousy ( In ward admiration )

Modi should try publicizing the Corruption and COMMUNALISM of Congress that kept India a slum dog for over 6 decades. The left must be isolated for its support of China during the 1962 War. Modi should explain that what happened in Godhra created the Gujarat tragedy and that he was able to contain it, successfully

It is a bit of luck for the country of 26 states that at least one CM is able be eliminate corruption and dynamize the admn under him. The least the other CMs could do would be to send some of the younger and more honest ministers to go to guj and learn how these things are done, to be implemented in their states also. at least, the bjp-nda CMs should do this. The PM could hold more frequent meetings of the national development council, for CMs of different states to exchange ideas and learn better admn techniques and solutions to problems from each-others.
