again For Mr Reddy,
If Modi is found guilty of leading rioters from front then he should be punished. but till now except opposition rhetoric, there has been no proof that he led mobs, unlike Tytler And Sajjan Kumar who were leading the Mobs from the forefront.
Also people forget that Riots happened after a Muslim Mob burnt a Train, and was reactionary event, where as Sikhs were massacred because Indiara Gandhi was killed by 2 people, she was not god, just one ordinary person, but Congress goons set the entire community on fire in response, whereas gujrat hundreds of train travellers were burnt alive by a muslim mob, and voilence even though wrong erupted in response, and state officials are blamed for turning a blind ye to that
which is worse one hunman killed and in response community burnt and massacred or 100s of people killed and in response riots occur.

again for Mr Reddy.
Secularism means one law for everyone, not different law for muslims and different for others, Different rule for Kashmir and different for rest of India.
And this was a result of Congress Policies, which has been ruling india for the most no of years.
Though not defending BJP but most reasonable people will end up doing that as That is Exactly what BJP said. It asked for people to say they are Indians first and then about religion afterwards.
What is wrong that if we ban salman rushdies book then we also ban MF Hussains painting. for we cannot do one without other, or not ban either.
what is wrong if the BJP asks for that
For just now India is living a pseudosecular ideology where it is ok to call anyone who calls himself Hindu as communal but people calling themselves with other religion is secular.
Attending id is secular but holi functions are communal
?
for freedom of speech in India is due to Majority being tolerant, if it was like pakistan then there would be no freedom of speech

Just because you believe Modi is guilty does not change the ground facts. Seemingly endless commmission probes have reached the same conclusion: There is no evidence of Modi;s direct involvement. Somehow, this is not enough for some. We will keep having investigations till we are blue in the face. Why dont we have a similar outrage for the Cong refusing to allow an independent investigation on 26/11 attacks? I cant believe people are buying this hogwash that a bunch of people just walked into Mumbai with ammunition in bagpacks. Please, give me a break. Jai Ho Vote Bank Politics.
I find rather amusing that Mr. Reddy sees only marginal differences between the Cong and BJP. You cannot possibly be serious when you said this.
Less said about Ms. Roy the better. Can we not loan her to Pakistan as a goodwill gesture. She is nothing but an oxygen thief.

A riot is an explosion of anger of violent crowd which is difficult to be controlled once it erupts. The people of Gujrat repeatedly electing MODI gives an indication that the local population appreciate the effort of MODI in controlling the riots. So why crib. That is what Democracy is all about. Again, any number of commission of inquiries can come to different findings about Godhra, but the facts can not be hidden from the ordinary people of Godhra staying nearby railway station!!!!

This is for bhuvnesh:
I do not condone the massacre of Sikhs in Delhi and i strongly believe the Congress needs to be held accountable (Tytler etc) just as strongly as I believe Modi and gang should be arrested and sentenced to life in prison for the Gujarat massacre. As for Afzal, i do not believe in the death penalty but the law should take its course and if he is convicted and gets life in prison i would call that justice.
Taking political sides between two major political parties that are marginally different from each other is meaningless. Which is why we need to stick with basic political ideologies on which our country was founded on secularism, democracy and the protection of the defenseless.

Yes what happened in Mangalore was equally bad and should be condemed. Was it BJP/RSS though which did it. Should we say that under the same breath Congress be punished as well for atrocities on Sikhs. should the army be set on them as well.
Police went for ram sena cheif for the crimes, is that not what the law is.
Also someones reference about Klu Klux clan, equating them to BJP, but BJP came to power and despite fears didnt do anything that people expected like problems for muslims.
Congress- probably more like Klu Klax clan as they killed Sikhs, and still have people who they consider big in the party and were ready to give tickets to. Congress was in power at the time sikhs were massacred and there 2 most prominent leaders from delhi- tytler and Sajjan kumar were at the fore fronts of it. what about that- that was similar to ethnic cleansing in delhi by congress goons and leaders.

I was about to gloss over the usual drivel that passes off as an exchange of ideas on this forum till i read this part by j.n.butt :
"Doesn't she read the papers and see on t.v. the public whiping of a poor girl subjected to by the ruthless marauders in the name of relegion."
My initial reaction was to acknowledge his reference to the Mangalore Pub incident, where most of you remember the public beating poor Mangalorean girls were subjected to in the name of religion by Hindu chauvinists/terrorists. Then i realized he was referring to the Taliban in Swat where a similar incident (although more gruesome) was filmed and distributed on the web.
This ofcourse set me thinking (which in itself is an achievement given the cauldron of toxic stew we wallow in), why do we froth at the mouth when such incidents happen in Pakistan and in a quick about-turn justify nearly similar incidents in India ? Shouldnt our frame of reference be something or some ideal that is not tarnished by the Talibs or their Indian equivalents the BJP/RSS/VHP/BajrangDal combine ?? at least the Pakistani Military has decided to go after these goons. Why hasnt the Indian Military done the same ?

Eleven years ago, Arundhati Hooker Roy shouted from the rooftops (in the aftermath of Pokharan-II) that she was renouncing her Indian citizenship.
Since then I have been waiting to see her make a bonfire of her passport, ration card and other papers. But she hasn't done so. She continues to infest this great country of ours and behaves as if India owes her a living.
Go away, Ms Roy, go and live in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir or in the Swat valley, or on the outskirts of Kabul (about 200 km away and on the way to Kandahar). Then you will see life at first hand and realise that there is no country to beat India (which you have converted into your favourite whipping boy).
In the meanwhile, your cousin Pranay Roy of NDTV will keep your memory alive by airing all the hot air that you manage to get out of POK, Swat or Kandahar (or whichever hole in the mud you choose to occupy).
P.S. I am dying to see a photo shot of you burning your passport and renouncing your Indian citizenship as you had declaimed eleven years ago. Go ahead, Arundhati. Just do it! And while you are at it, also burn the documents that have allowed you to occupy a bungalow in a forest land (outside Pachmarhi) which you are not supposed to own.

Swat and the Taliban boy
It is very important for me to understand what exactly is going in Swat. How did it start? A Taliban boy asked me why women can’t be like plastic bags and banned. The point is that the plastic bag was made in a factory but so was the boy. He was made in a factory that is producing this kind of mind(set). (The question is) who owns that factory, who funds it? Unless we deal with that factory, dealing with the boy doesn’t help us.

I am amazed at the remarks of Arundati Roy about Taliban. Doesn't she read the papers and see on t.v. the public whiping of a poor girl subjected to by the ruthless marauders in the name of relegion. Hasn't she read the gory stories of how the girls education schools are balsted by the Taliban and the society pushed back to middle ages.
After reading the Dawn piece I have lost all respect for her thinking which to my mind is utterly convoluted.

She is nothing but an oxygen thief.

again for Mr Reddy.
?
for freedom of speech in India is due to Majority being tolerant, if it was like pakistan then there would be no freedom of speech

again For Mr Reddy,
If Modi is found guilty of leading rioters from front then he should be punished. but till now except opposition rhetoric, there has been no proof that he led mobs, unlike Tytler And Sajjan Kumar who were leading the Mobs from the forefront.
