Sonia-Rahul team does not want any strong measures to be taken, since the real forces behind the Maoists are the Christian missionaries.UPA government is deliberately avoiding identifying the money power behind the Maoist movement since it will expose the sinister missionaries. The situation in Chattisgharh and other states is an exact replica of the situation that existed in Nepal, where missionaries used Maoists to change history for ever.It is shameful that the media gives so much importance to the statements of a stupid Rahul Gandhi, who knows neither history nor geography of our land.

Yes,very much true.If the Gandhi's do not open their mouth on Maoist violence why the hell the media is not grilling them while the same media will go to the house of the BJP president to ask if there was any rift between its leaders. It only shows that the media is biased and will kneel before the congress when asked to sit.Why its not talking on Mamatha Bannerjee's silence as well as well.Is it because she has a soft corner for the Maoists whom she considers them as her new found vote bank?
Chidamabaram is left alone on Dantewda and the BJP has rightly come to his rescue.Resignation is not a solution and its said at the moment he is best available amongst the lot in the congress.
Sonia is seen as a hope by the church backed insurgent groups of the north east and some much politicized religious leadership of Kerala who have been seen openly backing the Maoists. There is definitely a hand of the missionaries in the murder of a VHP swami in Orissa who was in the forefront of fighting the conversions. This conspiracy of the church backing the Maoists because many of the tribals are being motivated by the missionaries and for fighting against the state as it happened in the north east. This must be decimated by the Manmohan Singh faction effectively in the interest of the country.

The reason why a half christian like Arundati Roy is siding with the Maoists fighting not for the oppressed but fighting against the state like how the church backed and missionary led insurgent groups of the north east perpetrated the ethnic cleansing of the land and killed our security forces. So this menace has to be crushed and decimated sooner or later.

Problem of Naxalism and extremism is increasing year after year. Government in last three decades has almost underestimated the gravity of the matter ad neglected the same altogether. There have been fatal attacks by naxalites in their area of operation on many occasions in the past but no substantial action has been taken against the attackers.

Police force in each state knows how naxalites are extorting money from rich businessmen, house builders, service men and even police personnel. Many police stations have been attacked in the past and their guns and other arms and ammunitions have been taken away by attackers. Hundreds of innocents have been killed brutally in group. And so on…

Naxalites are growing in numbers and strength year after year. Their Finacial power has assumed the dangerous proportion, they have accumulated huge arms and ammunition and are capable to strike even CRPF camps and kill them in good numbers as happened on black Monday saddest 6th April 2010 in Indian history. They have exhibited their power of strike on many occasions in the past. But unfortunately politicians in our country never tried to stop the same.

There are still many politicians who are sympathizer of such naxalites, who take the support of these hard core naxalites during election to give a befitting reply to their opponents, who use gang members of naxal groups to motivate and threat voters and force them to cast their valued votes in favour of desired candidate or face the dire consequences. It will not be exaggeration to say that members of naxalite groups are sitting in all offices from state level assemblies to village level panchayats and block level government offices to state secretariats.

Members of naxal groups have not only spread their network to a great extent but actively working in each corner of the country. Every big or small contractor working for various departments of the government has to donate money in proportion to their contract value to Naxalite groups. For common men it is called as dadagiri tax. People have accepted this dirty system and do not approach police or any office to get rid of this extortion, because of non action or because of more dangerous consequences.

It is unfortunate that during last three decades government remained almost silent spectators of all such dangerous activities of naxalism. After each fatal attack by naxal groups, Home Minister like Mr. Shiv Raj Patil thought it wise to announce some monetary help for the family of victim of naxal attacks and thought it better and beneficial not to take any step to stop spread of naxalism in the country like cancer.

It is also a bitter truth that even ruling government and police forces are also afraid of repercussions on their family or on the their election prospects from naxal groups,.

Many nationalist, writers, social activists and honest politicians have pointed out that naxalism is greater threat to India than external threat from country like Pakistan or global terrorism. But the valued suggestions of noble writers were always ignored. As a result of this prolonged negligence and casual approach of various governments naxalism has become greatest threat to people of India.

It is only in the last year that Mr. P Chidambram took charge of Home department and started his sincere work against terrorism coming from abroad as also against naxalism in the name of Operation Red Hunt. There is no doubt that he has created a fear in the mind of naxal groups and this is why they are trying to belittle the effort of the government .I have no doubt that Mr. Chidambaram has the will and the brain to combat naxalism and terrorism tooth and nail and it is he who can finish the same from the root provided he gets wholehearted support not only from his party members but also from members of opposition groups,

Mr. Home Minister needs support not only from central and concerned state governments but also from local people who can play prominent and vital role in identification of naxalites, trained criminals and tell about their hide outs, their action plan etc.

It is the urgent task before government to leave no stone unturned to finish naxalism from the country. Government should not give opportunity to Pakistan in particular and international community in general to say that India is incapable to control even domestic terrorism.

This refers to today’s news that Maoist have offered compensation to aggrieved families of CRPF jawans killed by them at Dantewara in the state of Chattishgarh on the memorable and unforgettable day 6th April 2010
.
This is the fittest reply given by Maoist to inefficient, corrupt and non performing government. Hitherto government used to announce compensation for poor and innocent killed in any mishap, terror attack or naxal attacks where government was guilty of ineffectiveness, inertness and corrupt administrative system.

Instead of improving the quality of administration or punishing the guilty persons sitting in government offices, our ministers used to sit calm by announcing some compensatory packages or relief and rehabilitation after each naxal or terror attacks and brutal killing of innocent villagers.
.
For the first time, Maoists have announced the same compensation for family members of victim families of 76 CRPF men killed by themselves. This is indeed a cruel joke on our government and should now at least open the eye of sleeping government and of at least those social reformers or politicians who advocate for dialogue with naxal elements.

Now it may be clear to government that Maoist has grown more powerful than government in financial as well as fighting capacity. Government should be ashamed and keep their head low now or else leave no stone unturned to fight to finish Maoists without listening to any demand for dialogue with those who do not respect Indian laws and Indian citizen.

Government should now act before it is too late.

The truth that the years of decay in Chattisgarh and WB has created the Maoists.

The non performing state governments should be sacked.
There is no way we are going to fix the dam problem.
Its disgusting to give a communal tinge to the crisis.

If one like Harun wants to be deliberately blind to recent history of Nepal, where Maoists and missionaries joined hands to rewrite a country's history, and talk inane things like Bellary, nothing can be done.Stupid Hindu leadership could not see what was in store when the Muslim leagures were planning mass murder of Hindus to get Pakistan, even as late as at the begining of 1947.According to the types of Harun, even this may be only a bad dream. The slip is showing about his anti-Hindu mindset.

I agree with R. Jagannathan's observations.

We know the Gandhi family displays a ruthless almost amoral drive for power. Its not necessarily wrong, as staying at the top and running a country requires a determination that most normal people would find unpalatable. Manmohan Singh is not a child and he knows the game.

But the unfolding scenario regarding the tribals runs like this. The tribals in India are the "first nation", a concept imported from the West. The hindu fascist state ( if you read Arundhati Roy's essay, she mentions this) is seeking to eliminate the tribals because they are the last of the "indigenous" groups.

The West romanticises tribal groups because its their Christian intellectal inheritance i.e. the story of Adam and Eve, the guilt over man's fall from grace, paradise lost etc. Arundhati Roy does bring this to her writing, subconsciously or otherwise. Sombody should ask her what she thinks of Hinduism.

How can we have "indigenous first nations" in this country, where everybody has been here for millenia? Its a stupid, mindless, racist concept and reveals the bankruptcy of our intellectual class. To extend this line of thinking, then Islam is definetly not a indigenous religion of India.

So with operation "Green Hunt", the Gandhi family "triangulates" by saying nothing, and leaving Chidambaram et al to take the flak and the eventual discrediting of the brahmincal oppressors . The tacit message is that the tribals and the Gandhi family are on the same wavelength. This is a game the all politicans play but the Congress excels at.

There is a problem with the tribals - its a crisis of modernity and the misgovernance of the state. Some of the problems are inevitable and pose acute dilemmas. But the intellecual class have little to contribute. So why is this? Does someone need to cut off their gravy train?

For the White people from Eueope, the native Indians were inferior human beings, because they followed religious practices other than Christianity. In India it is a different story.Tribals, the Vanavasis, follow variants of Hindu religion.Only the Christian missionaries have started calling them indegenous people, separate from the Hindu soceity.
Infact, the Maharajas of Bastar which is at the very heart of present Maoist movement, were proud Hindus.Praveen Singh Banjdev, the Raja in 50's was brutally murdered by a Muslim police officer when he was celebrating Dussera on some frivolous reason.
Hindu tribals are a totally neglected people because they are not voilent like the Christian tribals of N-E,whether they are Nagas or Mizos. These Christians get disproportionately high monetary assistance from the centre. The Hindu tribals of Chattisgarh,Orissa,Andhra are so poor that they are the prime target of Evangelists.Maoists are the swordarm of the missionaries to intimidate the hapless poor tribals.

Gayathri you are belittling my honest assessment of the crisis and were the culpability in the massacre at Dantewada actually lay.Why is that i be certified for bieng pro or against. If at all you should ask your very own self if the local governments have no blame to share.
I dont know if you did see a programme on Times Now when a jawan made a statement that the local state government did nothing to even provide drinking water and there are only 3 hand pumps and 2 of them are inoperable. All this for 125 jawans.Isnt it shame full.Do you mean from what i understand that certain powers that be enjoy absolute immunity, because they are pseudo nationalist and there apathy to the jawans is beyond question.
Whatever be the jawans defacating in fields or no drinking water.
As for me PC who has been making mundane statements hasnt taken action nor given the proof of having urged the LOcal government to provide the very basic facilities to the jawans.Anyway the cries of the widows and orphans of Dantewada will drown those who have shown sheer indifference to there present plight in misery.

Dont tell me that the poor jawan was biased for or against when he made this statement.
Does this mean you are absolving Raman Singh of his responsibility.
What is your take on Nagaraj making blatant communal statements which make his obvious hatred for the minorities.
Isnt this blasphemous and inhuman. Were is the difference between those across the border and those like Nagaraj.
Why is a National crisis being sullied in the murky waters of bias and inherent hatred.
I am looking for a honest response from you.

@SS Nagaraj

"For the White people from Eueope, the native Indians were inferior human beings, because they followed religious practices other than Christianity"

all true, but you are missing out on the European concept of the "noble savage" - the politically correct term nowadays is "indigenous tribal"

http://www.answers.c...m/topic/noble-savage

Nice quote from Milton's Paradise Lost:
"O might I here In solitude live savage, in some glade Obscured."

For a little textual analysis, if you refer to Arundhati Roy's essay again ( I know but its very revealing) she describes a police officer sayings: "The problem with the tribals is that they don't know greed"

I would say this is a made up conversation and a literay device to illustrate a point viz: "the noble savage's natural reason was Cartesian, autonomous, universal, and imagined to be uncorrupted by social mores and tradition."

@DRHarun

Way to go man. Don't let Gayatri Devi "vouch" for you. She/he is like a disembodied spirit haunting this forum and best ignored.

But I agree with you as well. The systemic fault is with the state authorities. Whether the centre deliberately engineers this or its their own fault is a hard question to answer.

Some of the points the Maoists make are valid. Why should minerals be mined out of forest areas to enrich some billinaire sitting in London? The state governments are not responsible authorities in this regard. They will sell out for a song.

Anyway we digress from the topic and R Jagannathan's point about dynasty vs the executive. Jagannathan is merely saying what should have been said long ago. He is the boy crying about the emperor and his lack of clothes.

Why does Sonia Gandhi remain silent? When has S Gandhi ever held a press conference or explained herself on TV. We no longer have democracy but a queen who moves in mysterious ways. The purpose of the "independant" press is to decipher or transalate those moves for us. We should be so grateful for the magificence of the Delhi imperium, even if it falls flat on its face from time to time.

This maoist massacre is a classic case of the imperium commanding but the distant reality begging to differ.

And when would the Delhiwalahs wake up ... perhaps when the dragon hoards came knocking on its gates ... but by then the Sonia Gandhi would have left it for the safety of ... guess where ???

again using Nepal as an example, very little. Maoists will only survive in government by creating a red terror.

Big problem with Maoists is that history is not on their side anymore. Their "enemy" is too broad based, diffuse and persuasive. Most likely they will lose discipline and collapse into full fledged extortion gangs. History is also not on the side of the tribals as well.

"Th enemy of the Maoists is so "persuasive" and "diffuse" that it can't fight for nuts."

if there was to be a Maoist revolution it would have taken place in the 1970s and early 1980s. there was left wing agitation in the air as far as UP where workers were shouting inqalaab zindabad and strikes were frequent. All that has disappeared now.

The battle lines are not so clearly delineated. Maoists are limited to tribal areas because its a simpler narrative of exploitaton.

To say the Indian state is an illusion means you have little understanding of how things operate here. Its chaotic to be sure, but there is flexibility in tactics and the ability to absorb shocks is greater than other places. This is not Nepal.

As for the tribals its unfortunately true that history is not on their side. The Maoists are contributing to their marginalisation far more than any giant multinational mining entity. With things done properly those tribal states could actually be quite well off. Instead they are mired in corruption, anarchy and violence.

When are we going to learn to solve our problems/issues based on their merits and demerits? When are we going to look at problems/issues from broad national perspectives rather than from a parochial, religious, caste, and/or political points of view? Should our solutions be not driven by national objectives and goals, whether the issues or social or developmental? What is going to make us do things in a united manner rather than as a divided society?
One side of India is demonstrating the people's entrepreneurship, creativity, desire to look ahead, and the willingness to work hard for a better life; consequently, India is gaining world recognition and respectability in a number of fields. On the other side, the shortsighted politicians are muddying up the society wherever there is a sign of a social or resource problem, in pursuit of their selfish objectives and goals. The leadership has been woefully lacking in building a national consciousness.

Given the fact there are a number of issues involved in the complex problem of the Moist insurgency, which is ever widening in the Eastern part of the country, it is time to stop talking about it as a Central vs State problem. People from different but related walks of life should get together and seriously discuss the problem in all its aspects and decide on solutions directed toward local and national objectives. India should demonstrate that it is capable of solving big problems in a mature way and is truly a great power.
