And neither majority nor majority ever in any era can prosper if living in perpetual confrontation with each others as History has taught us.
Hindus have left the path of confrontation with minorities by mid fifties and prospered.Likewise Sikhs,Jains and Christians have prospered .On other hand Muslims are being taken to more and more aggressive path under the guidance of the Maulvies who are also trying to take the Race into stone age sharia.Hence the Muslims are becoming more and more poorer cut off from main stream !
And to get solace blame Hindutavies,BJP ,Modi ,all and sundry rather than self introspection for cause of their poverty.
Once Hindus decide to make Modi PM then he will be surely PM.
It is folly of Seculars to think 'Aysa Hindus karen ge nahin " They will definitely will make him PM if Seculars and Muslims don't realize the cost of hyping Gujarat 2002 and simultaneously ignoring the Riots which were more heinous ,more ferocious and had the support plus participation of the Secu Rulers.
Muslims are simply making Hindus hardening their stance and pushing them to make Modi a PM.
The attitude and feeling that no coalition partners will support Modi Govt is hypothetical .Once results are declared and if Modi needs some outside support it will come in plenty.Remember elected MPs have their own Political and fiancial compulsions .Who will want to a costly re-election so that a future Sarkar without Modi can be formed ??? Will they be sure tehy even will be voted back by the disgusted Voters .Remeber due Political miscalculations of Sonia and Congress Bajpai was re-elected back with more seats.Another example is Nitish Kumar who was thrown out in a mid night back stabbing aby teh Congress and he came back with very comfortable majority.Lalu and Congress were decimated in re-election.
Congress and other self designated Secular Parties have their own Political compulsions / interests to take care so they will surely insist that neither Modi nor even BJP wins. And Congress Raj goes on internally . But in Politics this does not happen except when the Party in power has done exceptionally well on Price control, fighting corruption ,improving Law and Order ,managing limited resources in a intelligence way so that siphoning of the grants don't take place.
Judge the record of UPA yourself .
So with no credits or successes to reclaim once again the Delhi TAKHT these poor Secular Politicians are left with no other card other than the Modi .
Hence the slogans 'Bhaio Vote hame dal doh varna Modi aye ga "
Muslims have been misled by their intelligentsia who have taken the Muslim Samaj on confrontation mode with Hindu Parties without realizing that there are always way to achieve understanding and harmony even with your worst enemies. But instead of harmonizing relations with the Hindu Parties the negative attitude of the Muslim Samaj is resulting in hardening the attitude of an ordinary Hindu on the street against the Secus and Muslims.
India will pay a very heavy price for this confrontational attitudes.
Worst sufferers will be Muslims for whom slowly and slowly all the avenues of jobs and education are drying up .
Muslim can prosper in life as equals not with perpetual confrontation with the majority.
Please do call me Modiwadi ( which I am not ) and do laugh heartily sneeringly at me if that hides your discomfort reading the galling truth .But the actual and real ground realities I have outlined .This confrontation is slowly turning into ultimate confrontation with Hindus .
And no majority ever in any era can prosper if living in perpetual confrontation with the Majority as History has taught us.
If any doubt pleas read 'The Rise and Fall of Mughal Empire by Yadu Nath Sarkar.' Read how the confrontational attitude of Aurangzeb destroyed the Mughal Samraj.
It will teach all of us that how the races prosper with harmony and how the fall due confrontation !
Future of India lies in harmony and not in confrontation.
Unfortunately what is happening is that confrontation taking to new heights without any efforts towards harmonizing .
English Media is doing this from more than one decade magnifying the 2002 Riots. The worst communal riots iin Gujarat took place in 1969 and before when Jansangh even was not having any existnece there.> IN a democratic party there will be aspirants for power becuase they are self made. Not only Narendra Modi who is on the top of best CMs list iin various surveys but even SS Chohan,Raman Singh,BC Khanduri, PK dhumal are among the best CMs list.Narendra Modi is the most preferred candidate for PM becuase the people of the country are fed up witha weak PM..Real Power is excercised by people who have no knolwedge on any thing.
Modi does not have any problems. But India has a problem from these paid media and the sick journalists who are up against modi to tarnish his image and are being paid by congress looters.
The real problem lies with media not with Modijee.Thank god Modi got clean chit
The sad part of Modi debate is that more he uses the publicity blitz, more polarising figure he becomes. Modi needs to understand that his chances of becoming are as much as Sonia Gandhi's color getting tanned like commonplace Indians. BJP needs to nurture another PM candidate like Bihari who is acceptable. Modi can't reach the magic figure of 271 on his own and after him becoming a culprit in eyes of muslims, it ain't good for country to have modi as pm.
Teesta is a Gujarati. So is Mukul Sinha. So am I."
Where is the need to search kalnks of Gujarat now ?
Rahul as PM....omg...satyanas...
Atleast Gujarat has benefited by a wise choice... whether India benefits or not will depend on the collective wisdom of Indians...
If Congress scares minorities by screaming against modi... all that bjp needs to do is to say that rahul baba will be PM if Kaangrss wins... that is gud enuf to scare all kaangress voters :)
>> "Nobody said Gujarat is a perfect state. It takes all sorts to make a state."
Exactly what I meant when I said, "Modiwadis are a kalank on Gujarat."
>>"Teesta is a Gujarati. So is Mukul Sinha. So am I."
>>Nobody said Gujarat is a perfect state. It takes all sorts to make a state.
>> I think you confusing Modwadia with Modiwadi.
"Modiwadis are a kalank on Gujarat"
I think you confusing Modwadia with Modiwadi.
"Teesta is a Gujarati. So is Mukul Sinha. So am I."
Nobody said Gujarat is a perfect state. It takes all sorts to make a state.
O Brilliant One,
"The report of Raju Ramachandran, the amicus curiae in the Zakia Jafri case, has laid the ground for Narendra Modi to be charge-sheeted for his alleged role in the 2002 anti-Muslim Gujarat pogrom."
So - a report? Or just some comments, probably on a couple of post it notes....
>> who called the Gujaratis as kalank?
Gujaratis are not a kalank. Modiwadis are a kalank on Gujarat.
Mr MODIs real problem is the BJP LEADERS- Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitly, Sinha etc etc who are incapable of leading BJP to an electoral victory- get close to that magic figure of 270 seats - but wouldn't let anyone else do it. If Mr MODI is made the PM candidate for 2014 election there would be a "sharp polarisation of votes" and BJP has always performed well when that occurs. All FAMILY BUSSINESS POLITICIANS IN EVERY PARTY- Gandhis, Pawars, Karunanidhis, Abdullahs, Badals, Mulayam Yadavs, Laloo Yadavs, Paswans etc etc all will have PROBLEM WITH MODI because Mr MODI does not have a family and hence do not have to LOOT for his children.
Anwaar >> "And please don't use words like Guju haters. Teesta is a Gujarati. So is Mukul Sinha. So am I."
Ok bhai, but who called the Gujaratis as kalank? Remember?
Narendra Modi's real problem is one. And only ONE. His name is used as a hangar by people to claim squeaky-clean secular credentials.
They have no interest in justice. Apart from the litigants, only a handful (count on fingers) will be able to name ten (just ten!) accused or convicts in the 2002 riots without going to Google god. In fact, even on google, it will be difficult to find the names of ten accused or convicts. That exposes what the seculars of this country stand for - self promotion. They are least interested in justice.
Zafar >> "BUT – as you say, there are two reports that have been written based on the evidence collected by the SIT – Raghavan’s and (Amicus Curiae) Ramachandran’s. "
Zafar bhai, the SIT was asked to look into the Amicu Curiae observations (yes - observations, not report) and submit the final report. From the court actions, it is quite evident that it agrees with the SIT recommendation for closure. We can wait for the formalities if you want. The appeal will likely to go all the way to the Supreme Court. But, it is very unlikely that the SC will disagree with a report that it itself has been monitoring.
So, Teesta and her fan following will have to invent new theories. And, compared to early 2000s, people are acknowledging that Teesta and team is just a public face for Congress' extra-democratic-extra-political mechanisms to defeat Modi. Till now, it has failed miserably.
Many are comparing Modi & Hitler but not one, who was political head of the country at the time of relatively large scale two riots. Yes, I am talking of 1984 anti-sikh riots at Delhi and October 1989 mainly anti-muslim riots at Bhagalpur. The SIT was never constituted to investigate into these two riots by the sickular governments. Yes, the Congress’s central government, law and order situation and police of Delhi is always remained business of Ministry of Home central govt., and in case of Bhagalpur there was also the Congress’s Bihar Government. In Delhi riots about 2700 people were killed and in Bhagalpur riots about 1180 people were killed a figure very near to post Godhra , these are figures of police records not from rumors. Both of the Delhi and Bhagalpur riots blew-up in small geographical areas when compared to Gujarat riots of 2002, which implies that Post Godhra riots were relatively difficult to control. A very few number of rioters , ( Mainly Hindu majority in all three cases ) , may be less than 10 were dead by security forces bullets at both places delhi & Bhagalpur , but in case of 2002 almost 150 to 200 hindu rioters were dead by bullets of security forces. In 2002 post Godhra riots were controlled within three days and there is very few killings on both side of communities after three days but both other riots happened for very longer span of time. There was largest unorganized mob on roads in 2002 after Godhra ( some says 20 lakhs peoples were on roads , and it was very difficult to predict that where & when and which section of mob will convert in to rioters ). Both post Godhra riots & 1984 riots were after sudden provocative happenings; it was burning of about 55 peoples by a communal mob of about 2000 peoples and in later case it was killing of Smt. Indira Gandhi by communal bodyguards; so both these riots were sudden incidents not predictable one but this was not the case of Bhagalpur riots. Many peoples think that 1989 Bhagapur riots on the eve of General Loksabha elections were left to happen to appease the Hindus of the country after a chronological events like Shah Bano episode in 1986. Fastest convictions of rioters by trial courts is underway in case of 2002 riots even in some cases the rioters had already been convicted, in a time period of almost 10 years; but in other both riots convictions by lower courts are very time consuming almost 20-25 years and many still pending. It is worth to mention that after 1984 & 1989 there were pseudo seculars govts for long time at both places cong in center for delhi 1984-1990 and Lalu in Bihar for Bhagalpur for almost 15 years from 1990. A separate trial, for this same particular happening of Gulburg Society in which Mr. Jafri along with 60 others were killed , is underway in lower court and many people’s are accused there by same SIT. But another complaint of Jakia Jafri was separately handed over to SIT by apex court, for investigation. After passing of some years from riots in this another complaint Mrs Jafri blamed Modi and 63 others , including top executives and police officers of Gujarat govt. Now SIT (appointed by apex court) after investigation under supervision of apex court is saying that there is no prosecutable evidence against those blamed by Mrs. Jafri in separate complaint . Then I think that it is absolutely wrong to gather sympathy by saying that “No one Killed Mr. Jafri”. U should tell the full truth that a separate trial of killing of Ex MP Jafri is underway on many accused persons , but these persons are other than those blamed by Jakia in her separate complaint; and same SIT had investigated and prosecuting those accused of killing of Mr. Jafri and others at Gulburg. Many peoples in Gujarat are saying the Tista and others are using Jakia Jafri for their political vendetta. No one telling there was communal anger in very large public after Godhra same after assassination of Smt. Indira Gandhi , but this was not the case of Bhagalpur. Anger in case of 2002 Gujarat was so large that in some cases brotherly neighbors were inviting rioters to kill their neighbors and later on as time passes they feel guilt , it is very much evident from tellings of riots victims ; concludes that it was relatively much difficult to control riots in case of 2002. No Electronic Media is telling that in 2002 there was already high vicious environment nationally and internationally evident from some facts 1. communally motivated attack on Indian Parliament had happened recently 2. Indian Military was on borders under a operation ( Perrakerram ? ) 3. USA was engaged in Afghanistan after 9/11 etc..
Military was called from border and was available on roads with shoot and sight orders just on next day of riots i.e. 1st march after 1st riot on 28th feb. Military and Police saved life of many peoples but in some cases unfortunately police only saved himself , run away frightened of big mob of rioters in front of them , their this activity left poor victims alone in front of big communally angered mobs. In very few cases Police employees may have acted communally but this is in very much contrast to what some persons says in case of Bhagalpur that almost in every significant incident of Bhagalpur 1989, mob was leaded by police himself as if police is doing some operation and leading the mob to do something. In , Gujarat 2002 riots , there was entirely different mobs at different places acting more or less simultaneously; up to some extant different scenario from Bhagalpur. Modi may be having some complicity in not giving the order , on very 1st day of post Godhra riots, to police for firing the rioters on large scale. But events on next two days shows that security forces were having free hand to fire the rioters.
Than what is the reason for hard bashing of “Modi only” in Electronic Media ? Is it is due to that his counterpart in case of above riots ( top political boss of the country in 1984 & 1989 ) is not alive today and Modi is still alive ? If it is so then one have to think deeply.
Till now Modi had used both , his excessive bashing and his praise , in his political favour. Some one had rightly said that Modi is most hated & most liked leader at present in India.
“Only Modi” bashing from 2005 in electronic media is so powerfull that a perception had already been made in minds of his critics that he was the creator of riots and this bashing had already created hard bashers & hard followers of him. His continuation in power from 2002 also played a role in that he is having such hard critics. Where his hard followers are having one more non communal gun in hands that there is no any example in India 1. that a state agriculture growth for continuous period of 10 years ( 2000 to 2011) is near 12% in spite of one year of draught in this period , where’s national figure is about 2% to 3% for same period; 2. GDP growth for same continuous period is also about 10 to 12 % , much higher than national figure; 3. 24 hour of domestic electricity and 8 hour continuous electricity to agriculture in almost 99% of 18000 villages and even than financial health of state electricity board is far better , this is far dreamy in rest of rural India; 4. There is no communal riots after 2002 but condition was very worse in Gujarat ( Particularly in Ahemdabad , Surat & Godhra etc. ) in last 50 years before 2002; etc.
In parliamentary type election there are many factors 1. Faces of candidates 2. From how many time your party is in power for period just before election , due to power infighting in ruling party rises some time it is slow process and some time it is fast process; 3. From how many time your party is out of power for period just before election , it increases unity in opposition its extant may be small or large , differs from case to case; points at two and three are simple human nature; 4. Developmental works done by ruling some peoples may praise and some may pose threat; 5. How many followers & critics are there for CM/PM/Party; 6. Party workers quantity and Quality , when a party/man is in power for long time he always gains some in terms of workers quantity but looses in quality and hardship of workers; 6. Election management 7. Local/national or state wide factors; and many other instantaneous or long term factors. All these factors contributes in parliamentary system of elections.
Modi is very clever ( one might be ) till now he had very well managed all +ve and –ve things in his favor , he was able in winning the 60 to 70% assembly seats in 2007. I do not want to gauss the result of 2012 assembly election , time will tell. I think that Modi is not a fool who will plan for 2014 from now , it is his critics and followers those who are fighting , gassing and may be planning.

If the state elections in recent years are any indication, the country is gradually moving closer to an American model of Presidential-style elections. 2009 was victory of MMS over Advani, not UPA over NDA. Similar trends have been seen in the state elections over the past few years.
2014 elections is likely to be on a similar pattern. If UPA projects Pranab Mukherjee as the PM candidate, BJP will have no choice but to put Narendra Modi to the national stage. No one else in the NDA camp can match the giant goodwill of Pranab da. It will turn into a very interesting battle between Pranab Mukherjee's magnificent political career and Modi's statesmanship. That will be a very polarising election, probably wiping off the regional parties from the Lok Sabha. Historically, Congress has never trusted its best man for the top job. Patel lost to Nehru, Desai to dynasty, Rao to Rajiv, Pranab to MMS. So, Pranab is more likely to be headed towards presidentship than PM-ship.
If UPA hoists Rahul Gandhi, either of Arun Jaitley or Sushma Swaraj will be good enough (given the shoddy governance record of UPA). In which case, 2014 will be a dampening election.
Given the current situation, both Congress and BJP will prefer to protect Rahul/Priyanka and Modi (respectively) for (expectedly) calmer days of 2019.
Within the BJP Modi *does* have as many (if not more) supporters than detractors. It’s when you start looking at the other components of the NDA that the detractors start to decidedly outnumber the supporters – to the extent that they ask Modi NOT to come and campaign in their States during elections. How would being a part of a Modi led NDA realistically impact on the TDP’s vote share? My feeling is it would be a negative – or at least risky enough that the TDP would prefer to avoid the situation.
So unless the BJP wins enough seats to form Govt by itself (possible, but at this point unlikely) Modi is not going to be PM.
[Add to that the relentless media campaign against him over the past 10 years and you have the "most reviled man" in India…And perceptions do not take too long to change.]
But perceptions don’t change automatically, and the national conversation has a big impact on how they change. Just speaking of politicians, obviously people outside the BJP (so in the Congress, SP, BSP, RJD, etc. etc) are delighted with Modi’s current ‘butcher of Gujarat’ image – it works for them, because it is bad for a rival’s brand. Even within the BJP do you think that Modi’s rivals (say Sushma Swaraj) would really like Gujarat to be totally forgotten, or do you think they prefer Modi to remain a little tainted so that they (his rivals) can do better?
All fair points about the SIT – and I don’t agree that we should vilify its members just because we don’t agree with their findings.
BUT – as you say, there are two reports that have been written based on the evidence collected by the SIT – Raghavan’s and (Amicus Curiae) Ramachandran’s. Both these reports and ALL supporting evidence will be passed on to the plaintiff, Mrs Zakia Jafri (in May?). If she makes these things public – and I hope that she does – then a lot of things will become clearer, both about the investigation, the role of different individuals and the likelihood of a successful prosecution, given legal norms.
As for findings and final decisions:
Raju Ramachandran, the Supreme Court appointed lawyer to probe the gruesome Gulberg housing society carnage in Gujarat a decade ago, says a person aggrieved by the SIT closure report giving a clean chit to Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi can question its findings.
In an interview to the DNA, Ramachandran said, “I expect the court lawyer’s report will also be given to the complainant (Zakia Jafri) along with the SIT findings and she can file a protest petition questioning the Raghavan led panel’’. Zakia Jafri had moved the top court alleging that the Gujarat government and particularly chief minister Modi were responsible for the dastardly killing of her husband Ehsan Jafri, a Congress MP.
He was burnt alive as Ms Jafri’s repeated calls for help to the police and others in the government were of no avail. In his report, Ramachandran has said a senior IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt’s statement was made probable by the presence of two ministers in the Ahmedabad Police Control Room at the time Muslims were being attacked.
Bhatt in his affidavit before the top court had claimed that he was present at a top level meeting presided over by Modi in which the police was advised to let Hindu’s now ventilate their ire against the Muslims. If the trial court accepts what Ramachandran has reported it can partially or fully scrap SIT findings and issue notices to Modi and others whose names figure in the two reports.
“The court isn’t bound by the SIT findings, it has to apply its mind and examine all the documents and evidence before passing a final order on the issue’’, Ramachandran added. However, lawyer Ramachandran said, “I don’t want to comment on the SIT report or my report. The material will be assessed by the courts’’.
>>>> "That is because this SIT has no objective credibility. Its conduct during the investigation such as what witnesses to interview and which ones not to interview, pressure and threats on witnesses to change their testimony, leaking the contents of confidential interviews to Gujarat government officers officers and ignoring the testimony of two retired Supreme Court justices who had interviewed Haren Pandya, all lead to the conclusion that it was about as in terested in finding the truth as the O. J. Simpson jury in Los Angeles."
>> What you are saying is totally false.
Everything I said has been reported in our media.
>> "here is a clip from IE".
It is true that many Hindu killers and fire-setters have been convicted. I am not saying that the SIT is communal. I am saying that it has not been diligent in investigating Modi and his top aides, and often it acted as if it was interested only in giving Modi a clean chit.
>> Now Secus ,Modi haters and Guju haters are in shock.
That is silly. We have known for months that it was going to be a clean chit. After all it was written by people who have been acting more or less as Modi's defence attorneys! And please don't use words like Guju haters. Teesta is a Gujarati. So is Mukul Sinha. So am I.
>> This is plain insult to SC that its appointed SIT Report is not acceptable to Teesta, Mukul Sinha and Co.
The Supreme Court itself has pulled up this SIT several times.
Contrary to what many readers here opine Modi indeed is a divisive figure and that his main challenge. Detractors of Modi are not necessarily pro-Congress anti-BJP voters. There are millions of fence sitters who are repulsed by Modi. No wonder he was not a favorite speaker in state election rallies outside Gujarat.
A PM candidate needs to be acceptable to all sections of Indians, not only to the right wing voter base alone. This is where public image becomes important. Both Vajpayee and Manmohan have a clean image to the Indians by and large across the party lines irrespective of their competence. Modi's appeal wears out outside his committed supporters. If BJP comes to power with absolute majority they may install Modi as a PM, but if another NDA comes to power- Modi cannot get an easy ride. His coalition partners will be his main detractors.
That is because this SIT has no objective credibility. Its conduct during the investigation such as what witnesses to interview and which ones not to interview, pressure and threats on witnesses to change their testimony, leaking the contents of confidential interviews to Gujarat government officers….
What you are saying is totally false, you are whining because verdict is against your liking. Facts are most neutral obesrvers and news papers (most of them are no friend of Mr. Modi) have praised work done by SIT, here is a clip from IE. But you won’t care because facts don’t matter when brain is full of hatered against Modi.
Clip from IE:
In 2003, on a petition alleging bias in police investigations, the SC stayed proceedings in cases, including the Ode massacres. Then in 2008, it appointed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe nine of the most serious cases. Ode was one of them. SIT chief R.K. Raghavan was given full powers to pick the probe team and special public prosecutors. Crucially, the apex court also directed the SIT to ensure witness protection. In 2009, the SC ordered special fast-track trial courts for the SIT cases. It went further than that. At one point, in an extraordinary move, the court appointed an amicus curiae, a “friend of the court”, to go through investigation papers, meet witnesses and police officers and submit his own report, bypassing the SIT.
Zafar, Modi has an equal if not greater number of supporters than detractors. The problem is that a lot of the liberal crowd grossly underestimates him, because he doesn't meet their notion (whatever that is) of how a CM should talk/act/behave. Add to that the relentless media campaign against him over the past 10 years and you have the "most reviled man" in India. This negative campaign against has brought him new supporters, who'd have never otherwise even thought of him. Besides, the fact that he's given Gujarat and administration that is the rest of India's envy also has brought him admirers.
And perceptions do not take too long to change. Who'd have thunk that Mulayam, who was an untouchable 4 years ago, would be king today?
This is plain insult to SC that its appointed SIT Report is not acceptable to Teesta, Mukul Sinha and Co.They went to Court to appoint an SIT .For ten years they did not ask court to change SIT members as they suspect its integrity but once the SIT has revealed the truth that Zakaria's complaint is not maintainable and none is guilty .Then the heavens have fallen .
So they now say SC too has let them.Read the first reaction of Teesta .
What they want ? Those 58 persons all Hindus though not found guilty should be hanged for no crime of theirs ??
So it will satisfy you if innocent Hindus are punished ?? Remember the way you protect the Terrorists basis their religion .And now want innocent Hindus to be punished .
If this is not the worst kind of Communalism then what is it ??
So either Courts give the Judgements as you desire ie Hindus accused though may be even innocents must be punished and Muslims accused of Terror be treated innocents even if proved guilty .
This is not the real problem for Modi rathe rit is the real problem for India and whole of the World at large.
What type of Society you people want ?
Same type of attitudes have brought Pakistan where it is today .Let us at least learn from the current History if the old History you contest.
Peace Mr Ganesan. Peace!!!
@ Alakshyendra - for good or ill, Modi excites strong responses in Indians - there are no 'neutral' responses. My personal feeling is that he attracts enough negative responses that he will not be PM, the BJP would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory if they had him at its head - and I'll go further and say that this is a good thing in so far as it discourages politicians from trying to get short and medium term benefits from communal confrontation and violence because it shows that now (finally! in India) there is a long term PERSONAL price to be paid. Sajjan Kumar will never be argdsnybody again either, and that is a good thing - for the same reason that Modi will not be PM.
" he can only become PM after a national election, not a State one."
Read properly what I wrote before commenting.
[[Ganesan - he can only become PM after a national election, not a State one]]
If Manmohan Singh, a government babu with no experience in politics can become PM, surely Modi can too, don't you think?
>> That is because this SIT has no objective credibility
As if teests who was smacked on her knucles for forging witness has any credibility
As if people (i.e media, NGO,)who turn a blind eye to burning of 60 innocent pilgrims have any credibility
Ganesan - he can only become PM after a national election, not a State one.
" Mr Modi's supporters are banking on the other facet of a polarising figure -- the one which brought Mr Vajpayee to power in 1998 (after the experience of 1996 when the BJP could not form a government despite being the single largest party) and the Congress in 2004 (when the BJP had sought to once again make it about Mrs Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin).
A totally flawed analysis of what happened in both 1998 and 2004. BJP had no alliance in 1996. By 1998, they had managed to form alliances in crucial states and that gave them the number. Congress, till 2003 had a policy of going alone and they reversed it in 2004. They got the alliance right in 2004.
Both 1998/1999 and 2004 were series of state elections-as opposed to a national election. And the party which had the alliance right won.
The comparison to Modi is flawed. Whenever the next election happens, there is no guarantee it would be a national election. It might be another series of state elections. In which event, Modi is a non factor. What matters is how many seats BJP can get and what alliances it can form. If BJP can get 200+ seats, there is nothing to stop Modi from becoming PM.
On the other hand, if indeed we have a national election, then I agree with the assessment that Modi will find it difficult. But the prospect of having a national election seems remote at this point.
"Regardless of the court verdicts, Mr Modi also needs to win the battle in the court of public perception for his national ambitions to come anywhere near fruition."
The concerns these succus have for Modi's national ambitions is indeed touching.
" “Modi is unlikely to become a national leader in India. He might not even be a regional leader in India by December,” Zakaria said.
Given Zakaria's track record in predictions, this is the best news Modi has had.
Wise always say in case some one is traumatized and hurt very badly when his Hawai Kiley or Sand castles have come crumbling down then please allow him to cry and shed copious tears perhaps his system gets cleaned of the hate piled up for the last 10 years.I said perhaps .But no ahrm to give the chance if it helps .
Now Secus ,Modi haters and Guju haters are in shock .So have patience .
And why not ?
They went to SC saying that Modi 'Insaaf nahin karein ga ' so you take over the case. SC agreed and clubbed many petitions filed by Mukul Sinha and dozens of other NGOs . Some are recipient of Petro Dollars and earn their rozi-roti from the donations so received .
Hopes were built sky high that aab Modi ko ander kaerien ge.
All of them came with Band gaja baaja to Ahmadabad with loudly beating drums .
SC appointed SIT under its own control and supervision to satisfy the Complainants.
Zafri Begum had initialy revealed truthfully in the FIR that one Congressi MLA was leading the mob which burnt the house and people entrapped.
In comes Teesta and other NGOs who took hold of Begum Zafri and ensured that she back tracks from Congressi MLA so named in the FIR and lay the blame on the door of Modi .
That was the first Mistake which destroyed the very basis of Testimony of Zafri Begum.
Another mistake was done that the Teesta brigade wanted that SIT should run as per their wishes not per the directives of the SC .
They wanted the Report of two retired Judges should be relied upon . In January in some other case SC was shown the Opinion of some Retired SC Judges .In retort the Court observed then why you came here ?? And refused to take note of the retired Judges.
So that is way Judiciary works .But Teesta brigade does not or don't want to understand the basic truths.
There after Bhat was dug out by Teesta brigade .Bhat is accused of torturing Hindus in his Custody in Jam Khambalia one of the Hindu died as his both the kidneys were destroyed in the brutal beating by Bhat .
After 11 years Bhat came out and said that yes Modi said 'Let Hindus vent their anger .He knows that he was in the meeting .Even Courts said why after 11 years ??
But still SIT gave chance to Bhat to record his time barred statements .
Not only Teesta brigade forced Zafri begum changed the name of the culprits in the FIR but they wanted that SIT should only rely what retired Judges said and what Bhat says .
Incidentally Bhat could not produce any evidence to support his lies except one Constable .Who said that IG Bhat forced him to support the lies .And turned hostile .
Now they want that this cooked up evidence is sufficient to prosecute Modi.
Then they produced two Sharma brothers one is suspended Police Officer and other is an suspended IAS .Both are accused of serious frauds and cornering prime properties illegally by mis using their positions. And cases ar egoing against them .
Now they want the SIT should rely on them too.
But why they want to carry on this hate campaigns against Modi, against Gujus and increase Hindu- Muslim divide to such an extent that their relations are snapped completely for ages .And Racial hatred spreads .
Some know the consequences but are purposely carrying on this nefarious campaigns others are just plainly anti Hindu right but unaware as to where this hate program will lead the Nation ?
Who say there is only one Fai ??
Any wonder why the Fais are not acknowledging loot of 2 Lac crores of Muslims' lands' and killings of 60000 Muslims ?They have no intentions to safe guard the interests of the Indian Muslims .They have other very very big and dangerous designs
.And in the process if India is harmed let it be so.
Quote one instance in the History of India where one person has been targeted so ruthlessly and persistently whereas persons during whose regimes 100 times serious and bigger communal Riots took place are even not spoken of ??
Modi is not the ultimate target but some bigger game plan is going on .
But meanwhile every human being has the right to grieve .So let them recover from the shock of exposure of their concocted lies.
But that is not the end of the story .They will come back with more vengeance till they destroy India .
Modi's problem is Modi himself. This is not the first time Modi got temporary reprieve. But the ghost of 2002 is sticky one & keep coming to haunt Modi & would not be finally exorcised. Last time when the apex court sent a case to appropriate court for treating it as per the standing legal procedure, the same crowd went to town screaming Modi's coming. Nothing of the sort happened , that case is still pending. Though Modi went out on a deceitful synthetic sadbhavna yatra & got huge exposure on TV, his own party would not invite him to adress a single rally in the last mini-general elections. If anything the TV coverage exposed Modi's insincerity. The head-boys of BJP were realist enough to realise that.
There are any number of cases pending on Gujarat riot. Gulburg society is one of them. Even Gulberg society case has not ended. Raghavan's report is only part of the process. The case as yet not reached the appropriate court. Modi remains where he was, only Raghavan stands discredited. Raghavan appeared on TV yesterday & he was not at all convincing against overarching facts.
Modi's problem is not Teesta Setalvad. Its the man himself. Many riots happened in this country before 2002-03. Many a politician got away with it. In the TV age Modi's cockiness & lack of absolute penitence or remorse about it will do the man in.
"For those who hold him guilty, there is nothing that he could do that would help him. What they hold him guilty of is pretty nigh unforgivable."
So you care two hoots about justice, you just want him hanged! And in your eagerness to hang him, you don’t even care to check whether he is guilty or not. You have decided he is guilty:
because he belongs to a party you hate
because Teesta and Bhat say so
because your hatred towards him says so
because it suits your persecution complex
because he doesn’t listen to your perpetual whining
because he won’t play minority-ball with you
because he refuses to give you sops that you are so used to from other parties like congress and SP.
because he has closed all avenues for you to play victim-victim
because he won’t allow you to pull another stunt like Godhra train burning
because he won’t give you any opportunity to play riot-riot every now and then
So we don’t care what you think of the Indian justice system. It’s good enough for the majority. If it’s not good enough for you, too bad!!
In the history of India, which Chief Minister have ever been interrogated for 9 hours? Mr. Modi was and his interrogators gave him a Clean Chit. Mr. Modi never asked for Clean Chits. People filed numerous frivolous suits against Mr. Modi and when court gave him Clean Chit after Clean Chit, same people now claim that he must be very dirty to need these many Clean Chits !! There is a classic word for such phenomenon in Hebrew, 'Chutzpah'. (Kill your parents and beg sympathy for being an orphan). I have never known anybody apparently innocent hounded so viciously than Mr. Modi. His case is Char Changals above than even case against late Senator Edward Kennedy for Chappaquiddick incidence.
(Note: Recent communal incident in Hydrabad is being compared to 2002 Gujarat riots and guess what, the Muslims are blaming a Congress party MLA for that. The media hushed up the whole affair).
[[For those who hold him guilty, there is nothing that he could do that would help him.]]
And Modi isn't really running after the Teestas, Mukul Sinhas, and Zakia Jafris requesting them to let him help them.
Modi's real problem is not the public opinion but his inability to manage hostile media....if polls were to be conducted he stands out clears as the most popular politician in the country ...way ahead of others.......perhaps Mr Fareed Zakaria is stating what his father would have been dreaming as the Congressman! But surely the hopes would be dashed this december and again in 2014
".....the legal battle against him is far from over and is bound to go all the way to Supreme Court all over again."
That is because this SIT has no objective credibility. Its conduct during the investigation such as what witnesses to interview and which ones not to interview, pressure and threats on witnesses to change their testimony, leaking the contents of confidential interviews to Gujarat government officers and ignoring the testimony of two retired Supreme Court justices who had interviewed Haren Pandya, all lead to the conclusion that it was about as in terested in finding the truth as the O. J. Simpson jury in Los Angeles.
" Mr Modi would clearly have to do much more than the gimmicks of his sadbhavana fasts if he is to make any headway with the victims of the riots and those who hold him guilty, at least of the crimes of omission if not of commission."
For those who hold him guilty, there is nothing that he could do that would help him. What they hold him guilty of is pretty nigh unforgivable.
media is still not able to digest the fact that modi is clean, this article for that matter outlook is still negative in their reports on modi, they would still highlight negatives more than positives.
now the people of india should come together and fight these divisive forces in form of teesta and the organizations those supported hate campaign against modi. then only we can move forward and prosper.
Oh okay, so now that the SIT has found no evidence againt Modi, suddenly Outlook's paid journos say that it is not what investigating agencies or courts say, but what public thinks. Guess they've become unhinged after the slap on their faces.
As for public perception, it doesn't take too long to change. Mulayam was an untouchable barely 4 years ago. Look at where he is now.
"The Internet may not swing votes but it helps build perceptions"
Yes. internet is followed by a small percentage of literates. But vilification campaign that goes on on TV swings votes of masses - again through perceptions. What the resident Goebbels does in this forum, the sickular anchors do on the media 24x7.
PS: The photo above should be causing nightmares for the sickulars.
@ Alakshyendra - for good or ill, Modi excites strong responses in Indians - there are no 'neutral' responses. My personal feeling is that he attracts enough negative responses that he will not be PM, the BJP would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory if they had him at its head - an
