TO ALL THOSE CONGRESS SUPPORTERS, who think nominating Sachin Tendulkar to RS will make them win LS Polls of 2014, here is a crude reality check:
Some years back, TVS Motors, a south india based 2 wheeler company was floundering in sales of its primary motorcycle brand, Victor. And they hit upon idea of making brand ambassador out of ST and making adverts showing ST riding the motorcycle. And the idea was implemented. And months went. The sales never went up and only went down.
And it was then the company realised the hard truth - Good Batsmen does not transalate into good sales. The company then went the hard path - doing R&D and bringing better product lines.
And the ultimate joke in whole episode is, ST, who was in the advert for the motorcycle (TVS Victor) never personally rode any two wheeler !
So to all those secular,socialist, Sonia Gandhi worshipping Congress fans, here is the message - your goverance record is what matters for winning 2014 elections. And as of today, you are toast - even if you get entire bollywood and entire Indian cricket team to canvass for you. So wake up to the reality

There is a funny sense of deja vu after reading this. There was a similar response when Soniya Gandhi had abdicated PM post in favor of Man Mohan Singh. Some of the political parties were clamoring for awarding Bharat Ratna to Sachin so that in future he could be lured to join them. Now UPA has checkmated them by getting elected to RS they are crying foul. Don't be a sore loser.

What can we say about Indian voters if they vote for the Congress party just because the Congress party was successful in snatching Sachin to Rajya Sabha?
At least, now Sachin is qualified to be nation's PM, MMS has opened that door for him.

It is not fair to single out Sachin for all that is wrong in our country today. If he has been filing Income-tax returns under the category of '' artist'' instead of ''cricketer'', got additional FSI to build a gym in his house, manipulated waiver of cutoms duty on his Ferrari and sold it for a tidy profit, it is not very uncommon in India. At least he is not involved in any scam even if he is seen in the company of controversial politicians, industrialist, film stars. He is a great player, well-mannered person and good human being. We should ignore some of his failings. But do not make him God. This is, perhaps, our national trait. Either someone is hero or villain. His nomination to Rajya Sabha should be viwed as a normal matter. NDA also nominated Dara Singh. Even a person like Mani Aiyar ( who lost election to Lok Sabha)has been nominated to Rajya Sabha. Agreed, Sachin may not be a great orator just like Azharrudin. But he may bring some dividends to UPA at the election time. In short, a good investment by Congress for the future. Good luck Sachin in your new vocation.
I don't understand what skills Sachin has to be a member of Rajya Sabha. Some of his conducts have been rightly pointed out by ShadyIyengar.
If any cricketer deserves it, it is Rahul Dravid. A career that epitomizes dignity, resolve and team-first attitude. A personal life that is blemishless. He is truly the brightest icons in an era where the country has been hungry for role models.
