FYI Arundhuti's book cost £15 approx Rs 1200. I wonder if she is giving it away free.

She should do as she preaches

If there is a category in Nobel Prize for complaining about anything and everything especially about India without giving out implementable suggestions or plans then it should be given to Arundhati Roy.Until now I have not seen a single solution to the problems she complains.Not even a single time she has proposed an alternative way of handling the situations which she feels others have screwed up big time. She is simply misusing her Celebrity status and the left wing based media in India and around the world more than encourage and facilitate her.

Arundhuti Roy is full of rhetoric. She travels the globe to denounce India, specifically the GOI. She never suggests any solution though.
She is one of many professionals, Indian and foreign, who have made a career out of projecting India in a bad light.
I watched her speaking a couple of times here in the US and was surprised with her absolutely negative comments anout India. Even western critics of India do not come close.

Oh, The Economist! the self appointed mast-head of the globalisers.

Suppose Mr. Guru is not gulty as Ms. Roy believe him to be. Doesn't she has a rigt to defend him? After all there's such a thing called miscarraige of justice. Ms. Roy had extensively written why she thinks Guru may not be guilty. Why the reviewer not take up those points & rebutt them instead of taking recourse cheap sarcasm. Or in the hoary land of Economist's globalised heaven maximising profit is justice enough?

In the age of information revolution globalisation is inevitable & is welcome. But the Economist's perception of globalisation which is supremacy of brute force of capital & laissez faire for capital across the globe sans any sense of fair play is not sustainable & hasn't sustained as recent economic upheavals across the glo0be has proved.

The Economist's faith in GOI's economic survey is pathetic as in its frenzy for hoisting the narrowest venal sense of globalisation, it has stopped doing its own survey or resaerch.

A globalised world is wanted & welcome. Not the narrow corporate globe as The economist understands, but a truly equitable , evenhanded globe where every body gets equal opportunity to do business.
